Double D6 (DD6) was written for me & the kid to fill our gaming-on-the-go needs using as few (written) rules as possible while retaining the feel & function of more well-known tabletop fantasy RPGs.
Sitting somewhere between the OSR & more modern rulesets, DD6 includes:
- 2d6+attribute+skill action resolution
- Classic six stats (or attributes as they're called here)
- Four specialisms to define your character
- Point-based, freeform magic spell casting
- Simple monster building
Plus:
- Character sheet (A5)
- Creature sheet (A6)
All on two printable sides of A4 paper in a gatefold layout!

Because the free SRD has everything you need to play (and is based on the updated Advanced version) I’m really only adding community copies when someone buys a copy or leaves a star rating.
But yes, give the SRD a try—the magic system got an overhaul and also has slightly more refined rules around levelling. There’s a PDF aswell as a link to the HTML version.
